Managing
a Condominium or Townhome Association is a lot like managing any
other business. The association members have their voting interests
which are similar to share holdings and meet on a periodic basis
to elect the Board of Directors. The Board of Directors then elects
the officers of the association and holds meetings on a regular
basis to do such things as review and approve finances, discuss
pressing facility and management issues and discuss committee actions
and recommendations.
While
larger associations will hire a professional property management
company for daily administration, even smaller associations can
afford these services. If your association, however, does not want
the services of a property management company, the ownership, through
its officers, will need to handle the association's daily chores.
Mr. Cooke has
worked with Real Estate Developers converting apartment buildings
into condominiums, has represented associations in the transfer
of management from the developers to the association members, and
has represented associations on various day-to-day issues.
