. Charitable Organizations

Creating a charitable organization (a "CO") involves many of the same business and legal issues associated with other ventures. However, an additional component of a CO is obtaining tax exempt status. Many kinds of ventures can be CO's and include, to name just a few, churches, fraternal organizations or relief organizations.

Charitable Organizations are usually driven by a desire not for profits, but to create a lasting presence, effect and community with a clarity of purpose. CO's are often independent from the pressures that drive and motivate profit driven institutions and are marked by the voluntary nature of contributions and activities.

A recent trend among technology and biotechnology companies is to create with academic institutions or independant organizations, joint ventures combining the benefits of Non-Profit and Profit organizational dynamics.

Please feel free to contact Mr. Cooke at (312) 497-9002 or email him at "gc@Cookeslaw.com" to discuss creating and managing a charitable organization. Mr. Cooke's fee is $300.00 per hour.
