Whether you are an organization of one or a large corporation, success depends on effectively managing several different skill sets. These skill sets include such things as finance, managing people, marketing, operations and strategic planning. The General Managing area of Cooke's Law is intended to bring together some of the concepts and materials not covered in other areas while recognizing that issues and problems are not always strictly legal or strictly business. Identifying the interaction between business decisions and legal implications is important advice from an attorney; and enhanced by an attorney with a strong business backround.

General managing skills also apply to attorneys and Mr. Cooke wrote "Going Our On Your Own - Starting a Successful Law Practice," to introduce young attorneys to these concepts. This article appeared in the Chicago Bar Association, CBA Record, in the February/March 1995 issue. (2 Mg Download). Reprinted with Permission.
